Filming Australia’s Best Houses

Posted by Paul Ackling 26th Mar 2015

The filming of Australia’s Best Houses for our Curl Curl custom project was a fun and interesting process! Our client’s were fantastic, not only for opening up their home but for being involved on camera (not an easy task for anyone). The host of the show, Gary Takle, deserves a huge thanks for not only helping to calm some nerves on the day, but also being genuinely interested and excited about the home.

Each home that we build has a tremendous amount of time and energy invested into bring it to completion. In stands to say that when each home is completed, we take great pride in showing off our hard work. This is usually to the people involved in the process and also to current clients at the early stages of their own build. So, when contacted by Best Homes Australia, we jumped at the chance to show our finished work to a wider audience!

Beyond just showing off our work, going back and spending time in our clients home gave us a great perspective on the feel of the home and how the family uses it day to day. Our clients were even generous enough to invite ourselves and our families to dinner after filming had finished! As builders of individual homes, we spend a great deal of time with all of our clients during the planning and construction process. To have the opportunity to come back to this finished home, firstly to film and then to share a lovely meal, was truly enjoyable and rewarding.

We have already had the chance to view our segment, which airs Sunday 29th March on 7TWO @ 10.30pm. The end result is amazing with the essence of the home well and truly captured. We hope the program is well received and look forward to collaborating with Gary and his great team at Abode TV on a project in the future!

Building in this time of Covid-19 certainly has its challenges with material shortages, restrictions of tradespeople and lockdowns all playing a vital part. It’s fair to say that it has felt like the sand has been shifting beneath us at times. In tackling these challenges, we have played to our natural strengths in problem-solving, adapting to change and communication. It’s a test that has forced us to use our skills and expertise to provide calm and certainty to our clients.
