Having lived in the original house which was dark, damp and hidden behind overgrown landscaping, Peter and Jenny found it difficult to imagine the light-filled, open home that now stands in its place.
Set on a generous 780m² block with an 18.3m wide frontage, the site allowed for a home with strong street appeal. A refined palette of face brick, spotted gum timber and natural sandstone creates a cohesive connection to the surrounding landscape and the sweeping views over Middle Harbour.
An impressive 12.5m pool wraps around the home and adjoining enclosed alfresco area, forming a central feature both outdoors and in. From inside, the north-facing windows in the main living area and sitting room frame the water beautifully, bringing a sense of calm into the home.
Sustainability was also a key consideration. A 5.4kW solar system with 22 panels and battery storage now supplies around 95% of the home's energy needs. Combined with the home's passive design, reliance on heating and cooling is minimal, putting the owners on track to effectively eliminate power bills within just a few years.
Returning to the home now, it's clear it has settled naturally into the streetscape. More importantly, it has become exactly what our clients intended it to be; a warm, welcoming and low-maintenance family home.
